Fifteen American experts highly experienced in advocacy and management of Non-Profit
Organizations arrived in Haifa on 31 January after a week's visit of services, specialists
and sites in Israel, to join 14 Israelis, also deeply involved in Non-Profit activities, in a
cross-cultural seminar.
The seminar organized by the Haifa-Boston Civil Society NGO
Project had for its purpose :
-
Engendering a shared vision for collective action,
- Creating an understanding of the potential of the global social sector for effecting
change, and
- Sharing and practicing collaborative skills, tools and frameworks.
The active learning sessions raised questions about the kinds of leadership, and
organizational practices most suitable for the 21st Century. Four separate workshops
were held on Fundraising, Social Advocacy, Conflict Management and Multi-culturalism.
The Seminar ended with many suggestions for a continuation of the very enriching
learning experience, whether by internet or face-to-face.
The American group visited the Haifa organizations participating in the Seminar and
enjoyed Israeli home hospitality.
